Thinking ahead is only half the trick

When does the future begin?

design beyond...

How do we get there?

Welcome

Why

do we need visions?

By visualizing desirable futures and making them tangible and relatable we enable ourselves collectively to reflect on where we are headed – and where we would like to be.

Who

are they from?

Good ideas can come from any discipline. But the ability of  design to transform innovations into progress by combining the useful with the aspirational from a human perspective makes it the cradle of realistic utopias, design visions.

What

is a design vision?

Every design vision starts by asking the right question and continues by giving one possible answer. It is about showing an alternative to a current solution, solving a future problem or finding a new perspectives on technological potentials.

to read this website:

The curator’s note

… states the reason why a project was selected for design-visions and features updates on related developments, that show how reality catches up to the vision – or how it deviates from the vision.

The abstract

… outlines the essence of a project and was written by the creator. Most of these projects are based on extensive research and concept phases which are not presented here. However, further reading links are provided.

The Curator

Armin Warnecke is a strategist and human-centered innovation designer from Hamburg, Germany.

After his Masters degree in Industrial- and Medical Design from the Muthesius University of Fine Arts and Design he went on to work at the Strategy Lab and Design Studio design for human nature in Hamburg.

During his design education and on and off the job, he developed ideas and concepts to tackle current and future challenges. Every idea was focused on improving the quality of life and based on the vision of a more sustainable future.

"Human-centered innovation design combines analytical and creative processes focused on the human experience to develop future-oriented, sustainable solutions that meet stakeholder needs while creating meaningful value for people."

What started as a pure interest evolved into an idea and the attempt to make a positive impact beyond the business world.

As the need for statements about the future grew, so did the idea of bringing the concepts more into the public eye and uniting them in a place of future visions.
This platform is that place. From creative solutions for current and future problems to desirable visions of the future, Armin curates these projects to bring people closer to the creative inventiveness of design visions and anchor them as a reference point in time.

Tim O'Reilly

„If let machines put us out of work, it will be because of a failure of imagination and a lack of will to make a better future.“

Bell Hooks

“To be truly visionary we have to root our imagination in our concrete reality while simultaneously imagining possibilities beyond that reality.”
